Signs of Imam Mahdi's Appearance in Light of the Qur'an and Hadith and Their Contemporary Relevance
Abstract
This article examines the signs of Imam Mahdi’s (peace be upon him) appearance in light of the Qur'an and Hadith. Through Allah’s guidance, the research presents detailed attributes, lineage, and mission of Imam Mahdi. His name will be Muhammad, his father’s name Abdullah, his mother’s name Amina, and he will bear the title Abu Qasim. As a descendant of Syed and Fatima Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her), he is described as tall and fit, with a fair complexion and facial features resembling those of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). His noble character will mirror that of the Prophet, and while he may experience a slight stutter, occasionally placing his hand on his thigh as a result, his knowledge will be divinely inspired. According to the prophecies, Imam Mahdi will emerge as the appointed leader at the age of forty, taking an oath of caliphate between the Black Stone and the station of Ibrahim in the Haram Sharif, where he will usher in a rule of justice and fairness across the world. His mission will include leading battles against opposing forces, particularly Christians, and facing Dajjal, who will appear during his time. He will be joined by Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him), whose descent will occur during Imam Mahdi’s lifetime, and he will remain in his company for two years. Among the significant events of his rule will be the conquest of Constantinople with an army of seventy thousand. These prophetic signs underscore the pivotal role of Imam Mahdi in establishing justice and confronting falsehood, as prophesied in Islamic tradition.
